The SCIOS consortium carried out research over a ten-year period into the application of optical and optoelectronic techniques to information processing - including optoelectronic computing and optical interconnect technologies - and brought together, arguably, the largest grouping of optoelectronics research activities in the UK within a selected and co-ordinated programme.
